Hi, guys!
Today, I’ll let you know how to say ‘Goodbye’ in Korean.
Before beginning this, there is one thing I have to tell you about Korean culture.
In Korean, there is a strict distinction between polite and informal speech, so It might not be easy for you to pick up the Korean language however, I think It’s a great thing to learn something.
Then, Let’s hit the road.
- 안녕히 가세요. : annyeonghi gaseyo
This expression is a typical and polite one when you want to say good-bye to someone.
- 잘가 : jalga
This is a very casual expression.
When the one is a close person with you like friends or children, You can just say 잘가(jalga ). - 들어가세요. : deureogaseyo
This expression is another one of “안녕히 가세요.” and a typical and polite expression.
This originally means a short form of “go into home well.” It might sound a bit awkward to you, but we use it all the time.
You will look more Korean when you use this one. - 들어가. : deureoga
This is another casual expression of “들어 가세요.”
Make sure not to use it for someone who is not close with you or older than you here in Korea.
Thank you so much for reading.
